Strawberries Go On A Fieldtrip

It's about 60 degrees and sunny, so I brought the strawberries outside. As the weather is going to deterioriate by tonight, this is probably more of a field trip than a permanent residence.

I'm a busy attorney and political writer, a single gal who lives in a condominium in a suburb of Chicago. Sick of food recalls, mystery produce and tomatoes that taste like wet rags, I became interested in locally grown food. I hit the farmers' market every summer, but that was inconvenient and expensive. So, I decided to try growing a few things on my condominium balcony and in my unit. Last year, I tried tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini and an assortment of herbs. Apart from the herbs, everything died. I'm trying again this year armed with more Internet research and larger containers, but me being me, I'm still doing most everything on the fly and hoping for the best. So far, my garden has been even more inconvenient and expensive than the farmers market, but it's more fun too, and I'm learning a lot. Let's see what happens.
